Continuity and care across generations

Maradok Trust was founded to support families in Chiang Mai through one of life's most delicate processes — the passing of an estate from one generation to the next.

Our Story

Why Maradok Trust exists

The name Maradok (มรดก) is the Thai word for inheritance. It is both a legal term and a deeply human one — it speaks of something passed forward, preserved, and entrusted. That meaning sits at the centre of everything we do.

We established Maradok Trust in Chiang Mai because we observed, again and again, that families arriving at estate matters were often uncertain where to turn. The legal process in Thailand carries its own procedures and timelines, and without clear guidance, families can spend months confused about even the basics.

Our approach has always been to begin with a genuine conversation — to understand the family's situation before offering any path forward. We do not rush families toward decisions, and we do not begin work until everyone involved has a clear picture of what is being agreed to.

We work with both Thai-speaking and English-speaking families, which reflects the nature of Chiang Mai itself — a city where many long-term residents from different backgrounds have built lives, and where inheritance matters sometimes cross cultural and legal lines.

Our mission

To give every family a clear, calm path through estate matters — handled with thoroughness, sensitivity, and respect for what is being carried forward.

Our approach

We listen before advising. We explain before proceeding. Each engagement is paced to the family's needs, not to an arbitrary schedule.

Our values

Honesty, patience, discretion, and a genuine concern for the families we work with. We treat each matter as if it were our own family's.

Professional Standards

How we maintain our standards

Thai Bar Association compliance

All legal work is conducted in accordance with the standards and conduct requirements of the Lawyers Council of Thailand.

Strict confidentiality

Client information and estate details are never shared beyond those directly involved. All records are stored securely and handled with care.

Written records at every stage

Consultation summaries and agreed steps are provided in writing to every client, so there is always a clear record of what was discussed and what comes next.

Bilingual service

We serve Thai-speaking and English-speaking clients with equal care. All written communications can be prepared in either language on request.

Impartial advice

We serve the family's interests — not any single heir's position. Where matters are contested, our representation is thorough and conducted with fairness toward all parties.

Transparent fee structure

Fees are stated before any work begins, with no hidden additions. Clients agree in writing before each stage proceeds.

Inheritance legal support in Chiang Mai — what families should know

Estate matters in Thailand follow procedures governed by the Civil and Commercial Code. When a person passes away, their estate — property, accounts, and other assets — must pass through a legal process before it can be distributed to heirs. Whether or not a valid will is in place affects the steps involved considerably.

In northern Thailand, and in Chiang Mai specifically, local courts handle estate registration and, where necessary, contested matters. Families who are unfamiliar with these procedures often find the paperwork and timelines confusing. Maradok Trust is positioned to guide families through each step, at a pace suited to their situation.

For families who have recently experienced a loss, the administrative dimensions of estate work can feel burdensome. Our Will and Records Support service was designed with this in mind — to take on the document review and organization so that families can focus on what matters most during a difficult time.

For situations where an estate has become a source of disagreement between heirs, our Estate Matter Representation service offers thorough, considered legal support. Each case is assessed individually before any approach is recommended. Our aim is always a fair resolution that respects the wishes expressed in the estate, where they are known.
